Inkjet Printing, Directly on the Garment

DTG works like a high-powered inkjet printer for fabric. It sprays water-based inks directly into the fibers of the garment, creating soft-hand, photo-quality prints with unlimited colors.

We use the Brother GTX printer — industry-leading for color accuracy, detail resolution, and wash durability on cotton and cotton-blend garments.

DTG Questions Answered

Does DTG work on dark garments?
Yes, but dark garments require a white underbase layer before the color inks, which adds to the print time and cost. Results are still excellent. DTF is sometimes preferred for very dark fabrics — we're happy to advise which is best for your order.
What fabrics work best with DTG?
DTG works best on 100% cotton garments. Cotton-poly blends (up to 50% poly) also work well. Synthetic fabrics like 100% polyester are better suited for DTF printing.
How do DTG prints hold up after washing?
With proper care — wash inside-out, cold water, no bleach — DTG prints are very durable. The Brother GTX produces prints that maintain vibrancy over many washes. Follow the care instructions we include with your order.
Is there a file requirement for DTG?
We need a PNG or PDF file at 300 DPI minimum at the final print size. PNG with a transparent background works great. Vector files (AI, EPS) are also accepted and preferred.
